Identify Your Limiting Beliefs to Grow in Life

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

If you want to grow to your fullest potential, there is an important barrier you need to remove: your limiting beliefs. Having limiting beliefs is like having a small box that keeps you inside. While the world outside of the box is huge and beautiful, you are limited only with what you see inside the box. You can’t move much either. The sad thing about beliefs is that you create the small box yourself. You are the one who limit yourself from the vast, giant world outside.

So it’s essential to identify your limiting beliefs. How can we do that? A simple way is to observe your own thoughts. Whenever you encounter a thought that has the word “can’t” attached to it, stop for a while and look closer at it. Chance is you find a limiting belief. Be careful to remove the word “can’t” from your mind and replace it with something more positive like “can”.

By observing your thoughts continually, you will be able to identify the limiting beliefs you have. After identifying them, your job is to replace them with empowering beliefs.

Learn Life Lessons From Quotations

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Do you love to read quotations? If you don’t, I think it’s a good idea to start doing otherwise. There’s a good reason for that: reading quotations will teach a lot of life lessons. You will be able to learn from the wisdom of other people without having to go through the hard way. It’s like they go before you and then tell you what to do and what not to do so that you can save a lot of time.

There is also one other advantage of quotations: they teach you lessons of life in a concise way. Unlike reading books thay may take days or even weeks of your time, reading quotations take only a small amount of time. But in that small amount of time you will be able to learn a lot. It’s as if people take the lessons of life and present them to you in a compressed format.  Isn’t that great?

Treat Failures As Stepping Stones to Success

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Having the right perspective about failure is important for you to achieve success. That’s because failure is inevitable on your way to success. If you don’t have the right perspective about failure, you will be discouraged when you experience failures along the way. Even worse, it could cause you to stop pursuing your dreams.

So you need to treat failures the right way: treat them as stepping stones to success. Failing simply means that you are trying. You never fail if you never try. But you also never succeed if you never try. The fact that you dare to try means that you are now one step closer to success. After all, you can extract lessons from the failure so it’s time well spend.

If you treat failures this way, you won’t be discouraged when you fail. You won’t be disappointed if you can’t achieve your goal just yet. You will realize that it’s part of the process you must go through. In fact, you can be happy because you are now closer to success.

Ways to Build and Cultivate Persistence

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Persistence is essential for success. The question is: how do we build and cultivate persistence? There are several ways I can think of on how to do that.

First, you must have a cause. The cause must be something that resonates with you so that it can energize you. If the cause doesn’t resonate with you, it won’t push you for long. But it really resonates with you, you can always come to your cause to be refreshed and energized along the way.

Second, you must have a dream. The dream is usually derived from your cause. Your dream serves the same purpose as your cause: to strengthen and energize you.

These two things, cause and dream, are powerful things that can greatly help you build and cultivate persistence.

Third, you should realize that failure is the way to success. So don’t be discouraged when you fail; it’s normal and there’s nothing wrong with it. Just decide to learn from it and move on.

Persistence Is Your Key to Achieving Success

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Everyone wants to achieve success in life. But how can  we achieve success? While there are many ways that people may talk about achieving success, I’m sure there is an essential one you must have and that is persistence. It’s practically impossible to achieve success in any field without persistence.

Why is persistence so important? Because the way to success is long and painful. It’s not a way that is easy to go through. It’s not a way that is wide and smooth. To the contraty, you may see many failures and disappointment along the way. When such things happen, persistence is what makes you keep going. Persistence makes you keep doing what you’re supposed to do no matter how the situation is. Persistence  keeps you focused on your goal even when the situation seems negative. Eventually, persistence will bring you to the other end of the road where you achieve success.

Make Time for Exercise to Stay Healthy

Monday, February 9th, 2009

One part of self improvement is improving your physical health. It’s useless trying to improve the other aspects of your life if you aren’t physically healthy in the first place. Your body is your mean of doing things and the better its condition is the better you can live your life.

One essential way to stay healthy is exercise. You need to exercise regularly to stay healthy. You may feel that you are too busy for exercise but in reality you can’t afford not to exercise. Exercise is important not just to keep you healthy but also to maintain high-energy level throughout the day. With high energy level, you will be able to accomplish more in less time and feeling good about yourself at the same time. For that reason, don’t find time for exercise; make the time.

Enjoy Your Life and Don’t Forget to Have Fun

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

What’s the point of improving yourself if you can’t enjoy your life? So make sure that you always enjoy your life. Don’t let yourself work too hard to the point where you can no longer enjoy life. It’s sad to see many people work so hard that they can’t see why they do it in the first place.

A part of enjoying life is to have fun. Don’t forget to have fun. In fact, try to have fun in everything you do. Even if your current situation isn’t good, you will still enjoy your life if you can have fun.

Of course, having fun doesn’t have to be expensive. You don’t have to spend a lot of money – or even any money – to do that. There are a lot of fun activities that you can do for free with your friends or family.

Make Plan to Develop Your Strengths Continually

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

It’s important to identify your strengths, but it’s not enough. You must go beyond identifying your strengths to honing them. That’s because talent by itself is not enough. You need to sharpen it and develop it to the point where you can provide value to other people. Without that, it’s unlikely that people will put high value on you.

You need to make plan to develop your strengths. Don’t just do it by chance or sporadically. You need to have a systematic plan in place so that you can get the most out of your time. Look at your situation: what is it that you need? What aspects of your strengths can get the most improvement if you invest your time in it? By identifying the aspects that can give you the best return for your investment, you will have a good plan to improve yourself.

Nobody wants to experience bad situations. But, if we look at it from the positive side, there is actually good things you can take from bad situations. One of them is this: bad situations can help you know who are your real friends. When everything goes well, everyone is kind to you. They all want to be close to you and be with you. But the opposite happen when the situation is bad. At that time, many people may leave you and oppose you. Only some of them will stay with you and they are your real friends.

Take Responsibility and Don’t Make Excuses

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Too many people blame outside factors when something goes wrong with them. Perhaps they blame the economy, their friends, their boss, or their family. Blaming others for what happening to you won’t do you any good. It will only make your self improvement stagnate or slow at best. To really improve yourself, you need to take responsibility of your life. Don’t make excuse. Admit that you bear the responsibility of your situation.

At first, it might seem strange. How can we bear responsibility for something that other people do to us? Aren’t they are the ones to blame? Well, what you need to be responsible for is your response. No matter how bad the situation is, you can always choose your response. So take the responsibility for your responses. Acknowledge it if you fail to respond positively. Avoid making excuses. If you do this, you are on your way for true personal growth.
